Links to Cat Litters
We primarily use SwheatScoop and World's Best, but all of the litters we recommend are clay and silica free. These are healthier for your cat. Remember that after your cat leaves the litter box, she will generally clean herself, and in the process, ingest litter residue. Clay and silica can be toxic to a cat's system over time, so the litters we recommend are much safer.
- World's Best Cat Litter
- Definitely earns its name! Made of whole kernel corn. Excellent odor control, scoopable, and doesn't even stick to the bottom of the litterbox. But you DO pay for it - the most expensive litter we have found to date. Worth it, though!
- SwheatScoop
- Scoopable litter made of wheat. Great odor control and totally safe for your cat. Much more affordable than the World's Best, though it does tend to stick to the box more.
- Our Cat's Choice Premium Litter
- A clumping litter made of corn, yucca, and zeolite is as safe as the other litters listed above, and is probably the closest thing to World's Best Cat Litter, but is more cost-effective.
- Yesterday's News
- Made from recycled newspaper! Not scoopable, but amazing odor control! Excellent for cats who have just had surgeries. Comes in a pellet form, so may take some time to switch your cat over to this.
- Feline Pine
- Another natural alternative to clay litter, this litter is made of pine and comes in pellet form. Completely biodegradable, so the used litter can be flushed or used as landscape mulch.
Just about any pet supply website these days has a section of "Natural" or "biodegradable" litters. Many come in scoopable forms, and it's mostly just a difference in price and preference.
